Jimmy Choo Origins: Luxury Meets Craftsmanship

Founded by a skilled shoemaker in the heart of London’s East End in the 1990s, Jimmy Choo has become a world-leading luxury brand, celebrated for its innate sense of glamour and bold spirit.

Jimmy Choo’s story begins with master shoemaker Jimmy Choo, whose extraordinary talent soon made him a benchmark for the global jet set, including Princess Diana. In 1996, Choo’s granddaughter, Sandra Choi, took over as the brand’s creative director, and the brand finally came to life. Sandra Choi still carries on the brand with passion and determination today.

Sandra Choi, born in the UK on the Isle of Wight and trained in Hong Kong, was introduced to the world of high fashion from a young age. While attending the prestigious Central St Martins School in London, Choi honed his skills in fashion design, following in the footsteps of his uncle, Jimmy Choo, the legendary haute couture shoemaker.

After completing her studies, Choi joined her uncle in the family atelier in London’s East End. Here, he perfected the art of creating high-fashion shoes, learning everything from design to pattern cutting, hemming to assembly and finishing. Enchanted by the business, Choi decided to abandon her studies to devote herself full-time to design and management of the atelier and in 2001 her uncle left the company.

In the years since, Jimmy Choo has embarked on significant expansion, opening stores in some of the world’s most prestigious cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo. Thanks to its seductive cut, fashionable design and exceptional Italian craftsmanship, the brand has won over a sophisticated clientele all over the world, becoming a synonym for luxury and timeless style.

The goal of creating a global luxury business has propelled the brand to expand rapidly, gaining a prominent place in the fashion world, coming to receive numerous awards and recognitions, including the title of “Designer Brand of the Year” in 2008 from the British Fashion Council and “Brand of the Year” from Footwear News in New York.

Currently, Jimmy Choo is part of the global fashion and luxury goods group Capri Holdings Limited, which is listed on the  New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CPRI.

Jimmy Choo 2024: the new “Spring” collection

For the new collection, Jimmy Choo, through the theme “Statement Glamour“, presents a collection of footwear and accessories designed with the idea of turning heads through graphic motifs, color contrasts and emphatic details. This season, the brand celebrates the uniqueness of each individual through eye-catching designs and bold graphics.

 My goal is to make eye-catching accessories: truly exceptional models, for a look that does not go unnoticed. The Spring collection is identified with this philosophy, with the idea that accessories take over and become the subject of conversation. They allow us to add a touch of fantasy to our everyday life. They invite us to dream.

The new Jimmy Choo 2024 collection was presented at Milan Fashion Week and was an extraordinary experience that took guests on a journey through five experiential spaces created together with interior designer Stéphane Parmentier.

Each room was like a chapter of a fascinating story, created with care and amazing details. At the entrance, there was a majestic three-dimensional sculpture that kicked off a magical adventure, followed by a maze of shoeboxes that recalled the distinctive style of  Jimmy Choo’s Avenue bags.

Afterward, guests explored an environment that resembled an accessories museum, with each piece displayed as a unique work of art. Then there was an enchanting sculpture garden that highlighted the collection’s new teardrop heel.

Finally, an arena of luxury and sophistication concluded the trip, immersing guests in the extravagant and glamorous spirit of Jimmy Choo.

In addition, the brand brought the essence of glamour to Ibiza for its compelling Spring 2024 campaign, with stunning model Vivienne Rohner taking center stage, highlighting the collection with a unique touch of class.

The style of the new Jimmy Choo 2024 collection

Jimmy Choo unveils its bold Spring 2024 collection, presented with a unique style and innovative vision. The new season opens with an explosion of color and contrast, embodying the vibrant spirit of the brand.

The distinctive Avenue quilted motif, used as quilting on accessories and footwear, evolves in this collection into a modern graphic, where contrasting colors become the key to expression, in a contrasting palette of light blue, latte and black tones. This eye-catching symbol of the collection comes to life in the iconic BLAKE knee-high boots  and KYNLEY mules, perfect for any occasion, from the everyday to the special.

The undisputed protagonist is the teardrop heel, which gives the illusion of walking on a drop of water, transforming each shoe into an authentic work of art inspired by the fluidity of movement.

But it’s not just the teardrop heel that catches the eye:

The Spring 2024 collection also celebrates the rebirth of the Diamond code, with a special leather treatment inspired by the Diamond sports shoe, a surface with a multi-dimensional embossed effect is created. This unique design is featured on the exclusive Avenue tote bags, representing an innovative marriage of craftsmanship and technology. It’s a way to bring together two of the brand’s most important lines, Diamond and Avenue, giving customers an even more extraordinary and distinctive experience.

Who hasn’t dreamed of wearing a princess shoe? Jimmy  Choo’s Crystal Slippers make this dream come true, with over 12,000 crystals sparkling with every step. Each pair is a unique work of art, created to celebrate the beauty and magic of fashion.

A sublime expression of the fairytale atmosphere, the Crystal Slipper is a tribute to the timeless allure of glamour. I was inspired by the concept of love and was fascinated by heart-shaped Swarovski crystals.

The Crystal Slipper evokes the romance of an 18th-century rococo shoe, meticulously crafted and embellished with hand-applied Swarovski crystals, giving the illusion of a jewel.

With over 12,000 handcrafted crystals in 9 unique styles, the Crystal Slipper celebrates the timeless appeal of crystals. Their thoughtful and innovative arrangement ensures an extraordinary radiation of light with every step, while the  hand-embroidered heart-shaped crystals on the tip give a truly spectacular finishing touch.

The one-of-a-kind creation can take between 4 and 5 weeks, equivalent to 200 hours of craftsmanship for each pair. The icing on the cake: their elegant packaging inspired by a fine jewelry box, and so the Crystal Slippers are also a perfect gift to celebrate anniversaries and special occasions.

The Crystal Slipper campaign images  showcase the meticulous artisanal process of crafting, from the skilled hands of the artisans to Choi’s original vision. Mi-Yeon, global brand ambassador for Jimmy Choo and renowned South Korean K-Pop (G)I-DLE singer and actress, embodies elegance and sophistication by wearing these iconic footwear in the launch campaign.

This new collection not only expresses style and sophistication, but also freedom and boldness, inviting everyone to express their personality.
