We frequently hear about it, but what is the BOA Fit System? This is an innovative fastening system which is revolutionising the way people lace up their shoes. It was born in the Rocky Mountains in 2001, when entrepreneur and snowboarder Gary Hammerslag sought an innovative way to lace up his own snowboard boots.
Once they saw the real benefits of this revolutionary fastener, the company decided to extend it to different types of footwear.
But how does the boa fit system work?
The BOA is based on a rotation system that allows the tension of the boot to be adjusted with just one hand, providing a precise and comfortable fit.
BOA technology consists of three main components:
– An adjustment dial
– A stainless steel lace
– A twist-lock mechanism
Specifically, the adjustment dial is mounted on the top of the shoe and allows the tension to be adjusted with a simple twist. The stainless steel lace is wrapped around the shoe or footwear and adapts perfectly to the shape of the foot, ensuring a customised and secure fit. Finally, the twist-lock mechanism ensures that the lace tension remains constant, even during heavy use.
But is the boa fit system the only component of a shoe that guarantees great performance?
Every element of the footwear plays a fundamental role in ensuring that the user gets the maximum they need. The key is to find the perfect combination between each component to achieve the highest possible performance. This is why every development is studied and tested within the Performance Fit Lab.
BOA technology, therefore, is not the only factor that drives shoe performance and comfort, the sole, for example, also plays a key role.
Each sole must be designed to provide specific benefits based on the activity to be done, among these we can find grip, cushioning and stability. Furthermore, it is essential that the sole is able to handle the impacts and forces exerted in each step.
But is the BOA system only used on sports footwear?
The use of the BOA System is not limited to sporting shoes, but has also been extended to work footwear, where it has become a key element in ensuring comfort and safety for workers. In fact, it offers the possibility of adjusting the tension of work footwear quickly and precisely, guaranteeing a perfect fit for every use.
Knowing, therefore, the different components, technologies and innovations in the universe of footwear, allows you to choose the one best suited to your needs with care and awareness.
